- Observe the direction of other anglers’ lines
- Keep baits small for bottom-feeding fish
- Ask staff about landing a larger fish
A sensible first session
- Check the operator’s current hours, admission and tackle restrictions before travel.
- Find an open stretch and lower a high-low rig rather than making a long cast through a crowd.
- Maintain contact with the sinker and refresh stripped bait; use the pier’s agreed landing method.
Access matters
The official visitor listing directs anglers to the operator for changing hours and prices. Confirm license coverage, rod rules and closures with the pier. Do not assume nearby beach fishing has the same rules.
When to pay attention
Small bottom-feeding fish and passing predators call for different presentations. Observe what is present during your visit instead of treating a seasonal list as a report.
